Changes proposed to the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007
The Regulatory Systems (Immigration and Workforce) Amendment Bill, which will make changes to the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007, was returned to the House before Christmas and is awaiting its second reading in Parliament.
The proposed amendments to the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 seek to:
- simplify how complaints against advisers can be made,
- enable INZ to refuse to accept/decline applications prepared by unlicensed or non-exempt advisers when automatically accepted by an electronic system,
- strengthen the Immigration Advisers Authority (the Authority) Registrar’s discretion to consider wider matters relevant to determining a person’s fitness to be licensed.
