Change in circumstances
Under section 26 of the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 (the Act), you must give written notice to the Registrar of any relevant change in circumstances not later than 10 working days after the change.
What is a relevant change in circumstances?
A relevant change in circumstances means:
- A change in any of the information that you provided during the application process. This includes changes to your personal and contact details.
- Any change that results in you becoming prohibited from licensing. The matters for which you could be prohibited from licensing are set out in section 15 of the Act.
- Any change that could result in you becoming restricted from licensing. The matters for which you could be restricted from licensing are set out in sections 16 and 17 of the Act.
Note
Remember to keep your email address current as this is the main way that the Immigration Advisers Authority (IAA) will communicate with you.
How to notify the Immigration Advisers Authority of a change in circumstances
You can update the following using the “Maintain Immigration Adviser Licence” function of the IAA online portal:
Your photo
You must update your photo at least once every 3 years.
Your name
If your legal name changes, you will be asked to provide one of the following showing your new name:
- Deed poll
- Passport
- Marriage certificate
- New Zealand driver licence
- Overseas driver licence with statutory declaration
Your contact details
You must provide at least one phone number and an email address, as well as a physical address where you can be served documents.
Your business details
You must inform the IAA of all businesses that you work for.
For any other change in your circumstances, contact the IAA directly. This includes any change that results in your becoming prohibited or restricted from licensing.
There is no cost to notify us of a change in circumstances. Once your request is approved, the register will be updated.
Note
Editing your personal details in the user profile section of the IAA online portal will not notify the IAA and will not result in a change to the register.
Use the “Maintain Immigration Adviser Licence” function to notify the IAA of a change in circumstances or contact us directly as appropriate.
